Sorry Wall-E, Japan’s New Space Robot Might Be the Cutest One Yet

In 2008, Pixar and Disney brought a simulated sensation to our screens. Named Wall-E, the fantasy slash science-fiction animation brought joy to children (and many adults, may I add) everywhere. However, there’s a new toy in town.

Well, it’s not a toy – but its adorable, cartoon-like appearance implies otherwise. Meet the JEM Internal Ball Camera, or “Int-Ball.” Sure, the name doesn’t quite reflect the robot’s personality – we assume it has one, anyway – but the spherical camera comes complete with two large eyes and what looks like a little nose.

Built by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the robot was given to the International Space Station earlier this year. Designed to capture images from space and deliver them to scientists on the ground, Int-Ball can take both still and motion pictures. We’re yet to discover if the little round robot is as high-scoring in the intellect department, but we like to think it is.
