If you, a family member or loved one has asthma, it’s likely you’ve pondered over the condition and found yourself wondering if it can be cured on more than one occasion. In short, no –there isn’t a cure for the respiratory disease. However, that’s not to say that it can’t be managed.
By avoiding exposure to symptom triggers, taking medication as directed by a doctor and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, asthma sufferers will be able to go about daily life with minimal interruption.
According to Asthma UK, it’s also possible for children to grow out of the condition – the website published a story announced by BBC news in 2008 on the subject. Having studied more than 1,000 children over a duration of nine years, researchers concluded that boys are more likely to grow out of asthma than girls when they reach their teenage years.
Ultimately, there isn’t a cure for the condition. That being said, it is possible for children to eventually grow out of asthma – and those who don’t can manage it in a way that keeps asthma attacks and other respiratory issues at bay. Here’s a few ways in which asthma sufferers can keep their condition under control.
- Find out what allergens or irritants in particular trigger your symptoms.
- Avoid exposure to any triggers both indoors and outside.
- Monitor the air quality in your location on a regular basis to stay informed.
- Have regular check-ups with your doctor to discuss your condition and discover if there are other options for you to try.
- Take your medication as directed by your GP.
- Don’t smoke and avoid being in smoke-filled environments wherever possible.
To determine your symptom triggers and find out more about the air quality in your area, download the Sensio AIR mobile application from the App Store here, and from GooglePlay here.
